Miller relinquishes command of CLB-15

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Lt. Col. Boyd Miller relinquished command of Combat Logistics Battalion 15, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, to Lt. Col. John Wiener during a change of command ceremony held at the 22 Area parade deck here, Jan. 27.

Prior to assuming command of CLB-15, Wiener served as the executive officer of CLR-17, 1st MLG.

The change of command ceremony included the passing of the colors and remarks from the incoming and outgoing commanding officers.

During the ceremony, Miller spoke about how much he enjoyed leading the Marines and sailors of CLB-15. During their deployment, they provided logistcal support to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in Pakistan. They also provided explosive ordnance disposal support to a visit board search and seize mission for the Magellan Star, a merchant vessel off the coast of Africa. They conducted various training exercises with Jordanian Soldiers. Medical personnel from CLB-15 trained 52 Saudi Arabian military personnel in a combat lifesavers course and conducted a Medical Civic Action Program in Indonesia and Timor.

"The young men and women in this unit did a lot of great things on our recent deployment with 15th [Marine Expeditionary Unit]," said Miller, Sellersville, Penn. "They did everything from humanitarian missions to training in Kuwait to prepare themselves for potential combat in Afghanistan."

Wiener expressed how excited he was to be working closely with these young Marines and sailors.

"I would like to say that without the efforts put forth during their recent deployment the 15th MEU wouldn’t have been able to do all the things it did out there," said Wiener, Cherry Hill, N.J. "I am honored to be given the privilege to lead these Marines and sailors."
