Major Nowell C. McKnight, USMC

Major Nowell C. McKnight received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1998 from the US Naval Academy.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 1998.

In July 1999, after completing The Basic School and Logistics Officers Course, he was assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron 2, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan as the S-4A and S-4 Officer.  He also served on the Marine Air Control Group 18 staff as a Special Projects Officer. 
In Aug 2000, he was transferred to Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow CA where he served as the S-3 Officer and executive officer of Headquarters Battalion.

From 2003 to 2006, he was assigned to 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division as the maintenance management officer and motor transport officer.  He participated in Operation Secure Tomorrow in Haiti and later deployed as a member of Regimental Combat Team 8 to Operation Iraqi Freedom. 
Major McKnight was assigned to Inspector Instructor Duty in Aug 2006 to Jul 2009 with 3rd Longshoreman Platoon, Bayamon, Puerto Rico.  As Inspector Instructor, he served as detachment officer in charge for a MPF operation in Blount Island, FL and for a humanitarian exercise, Exercise Shared Accord in Benin, Africa.

Major McKnight is currently the Commanding Officer for Combat Logistics Company 16, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona.

His military education includes Logistics Officer’s Course, Tactical Logistics Officer Course, MPF Staff Planning Course, Expeditionary Warfare School Phase I (non-resident), and Army Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course.
