Lieutenant Colonel Parry is a native of Palmerton, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1989 and attained the rank of Sergeant.

He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant after graduation from University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in April 1994. He graduated from The Basic School in April 1995 and Infantry Officer’s Course in July 1995, and subsequently attended the Ground Intelligence Officer’s Course at Ft Huachuca, AZ where he was designated a Ground Intelligence Officer.

Upon graduation from GIOC, First Lieutenant Parry was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC where he served as the Scout Sniper Platoon Commander, Intelligence Officer, and Operations Officer for three deployments with both 1/6 and BLT 1/6 as part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In July 1999, Captain Parry was assigned to attend the MAGTF Intelligence Officer’s Course in Dam Neck, VA. In November 1999, he was transferred for duty with Instructor Battalion, The Basic School, Quantico, VA. There he served as a tactics instructor in the Warfighting Group, Staff Platoon Commander for Company B, and instructor at the Infantry Officer’s Course.

At the completion of his instructor tour in September 2002, Captain Parry was transferred to I Marine Expeditionary Force where he was assigned to the G-2 and G-3, and subsequently deployed to Kuwait and Iraq October 2002 – September 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon his redeployment, Major Parry was transferred to 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in October 2003 where he served at the Commander, Maritime Special Purpose Force and Assistant Operations Officer until July 2007. During this time, he deployed twice more to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Major Parry transferred to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Command in July 2007 for duty as Battalion Executive Officer.

In September 2009, Major Parry was re-assigned back to I Marine Expeditionary Force as the Intelligence Operations Officer and subsequently as the Acting Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence.

Lieutenant Colonel Parry is a graduate of Amphibious Warfare School and Marine Corps Command and Staff, and he is a Navy Marine Corps Basic Parachutist. He was promoted to his current rank on 1 February 2010. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device (w/ Gold Star), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ 2 Gold Stars), and the Combat Action Ribbon (w/ Gold Star).
