Wisner D'Meza, a rifleman and watch chief for I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), Camp Pendleton, Calif., was 11- years-old when U.S. Marines shook his hand outside his house in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, during Operation Uphold Democracy in 1994. Today, D'Meza is U.S. citizen living out his dream as a fellow warrior looking forward to an upcoming spring deployment to Afghanistan.

Williams, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) adjutant non-commissioned officer in charge, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Dec. 9. With 31 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Tanksley currently serves as the I MEF (Fwd) sergeant major and as the senior enlisted advisor to Maj. Gen. Charles Gurganus, who oversees more than 6,000 Marines and other coalition forces.
  • Marines with the Battle Simulation Center, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., train with the Marine Air Ground Combat Team Training Warfare Simulator at Camp Pendleton, Dec. 14. The center is hosting the Mission Rehearsal Exercise for I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). The MRX is designed to test the standard operating procedures of the I MEF (Fwd) as they prepare to deploy to Afghanistan and take command of Regional Command Southwest during the spring.
