Welcome
Welcome to the Headquarters Battalion Family! There is no more important resource to the success of our unit or to the Marine Corps than the contribution of individual Marines and Sailors like you. Over time, each of us sustains our ability to make these contributions only through the support we receive from those we care about—our families. A family’s support, in turn, is highly dependent on how ready it is to deal with the ongoing challenges of military life.
As you settle in, I encourage you to become familiar with the Family Readiness Program. Our program is managed by a full-time Family Readiness Officer (FRO), but each of us has a role to play within the program. Individual marines and Sailors, especially those who choose to accept the added responsibility of having a spouse and children, must also accept the responsibility for their family’s care and readiness. The FRO is here to assist you as you prepare a Family Care Plan to ensure your family’s well-being.
The FRO is also thoroughly familiar with all the services available to our families and will respond to concerns or requests for assistance quickly and professionally. There are many quality programs that the Marine Corps maintains that might assist you during your time here, many of which are described in this guide. I encourage you to contact the FRO with any questions you may have.
The FRO is also charged with keeping our families well-informed and with coordinating the many Family Readiness events hosted by the Battalion and by the Companies. It is quite a challenge and we can always use the help of volunteers. For many, volunteering is a great way to become connected and to maintain a resume while in between jobs. Any level of commitment, big or small, is welcome. If you would like to offer your talents and energy to help other families, please contact the FRO at 760-725-8816.
Again, welcome aboard. I very much appreciate your service and hope that your experience with Headquarters Battalion is a great one. I look forward to serving with you!
