City of Cerriots Marine of the Month for November

Sergeant (E-5) Brandon L. DeBraber

Sergeant DeBraber reported to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion on 20 August 2008. In that short period of time he has contributed greatly to the successful mission of the unit. Before his January, 2009 deployment with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Sgt. DeBraber attended the Urban Mobility Breachers course in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where Sgt. DeBraber was awarded the Band of Brothers award for being the honor graduate in this course.

Shortly after graduating from the Urban Mobility Breachers course, Sgt. DeBraber deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During his seven month deployment, Sgt. DeBraber participated in Operation Sea Soldier with the Royal Oman Army and Operation Eastern Maverick with the Qatari Army, during which he conducting bilateral training with those countries military forces, to include demolitions, and urban breaching training. During this deployment he attended Corporals Leadership course.

Upon his return from the 13th MEU, Sgt. DeBraber reenlisted to serve four additional years, and on Oct. 1st he was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant. Sgt. DeBraber's initiative, perseverance, and dedication to duty, reflects great credit upon himself and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
