Welcome Letter

March 24, 2011

Greetings Family and Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

The MEU is a very unique and special organization. Families should know we have a family readiness program to assist in coping with the high operational tempo the MEU endures. In addition to myself, the Family Readiness Command Team consists of the Executive Officer, Sergeant Major, Chaplain, Family Readiness Officer, Public Affairs Officer, and trained volunteers to help with information dissemination and information referral.

My Family Readiness Officer (FRO), Mrs. Audrey Hooper, should have already contacted you to introduce herself, or will do so soon. The FRO will provide you with: * Official two-way command communication * Information and referral services * Readiness and deployment support

The FRO stands ready to assist. The FRO can be contacted at (760) 429-5385 or e-mail audrey.hooper@usmc.mil.

Of course, the primary means of keeping the families informed lies with our Marines and Sailors. However, Family Readiness Assistants and Morale Support Volunteers are an important part of our information chain and we can always use more volunteers. I encourage your spouse or family member to consider joining our Family Readiness Program. If you or your spouse/extended family members (parent, sibling, etc…) are interested in participating in this program please contact Mrs. Hooper.

For those of you who are not familiar with Marine Corps history, customs, courtesy, and traditions, I would like to encourage your spouse or extended family member to consider registering for a Lifestyle, Insight, Networking, Knowledge and Skills (L.I.N.K.S.) session. L.I.N.K.S is a tremendous program that teaches spouses/extended family members about life in the Marine Corps. Even senior Marine spouses who have been in the Marine Corps family for many years have praised these sessions for teaching them things they never knew about the Marine Corps.

My wife and I are excited to have you and your family aboard. We have some great talent here, many friends and fun people. As we go forward we have plans for various social and family functions, all of which will help to make you and your family’s experience as part of the 15th MEU rewarding, enjoyable, and memorable. Again, welcome aboard.
