Marines from Company A, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, conducted helocasting with Japanese Rangers from the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, as part of Exercise Iron Fist 2012, a bilateral training exercise between the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the JGSDF.
  • Col. Scott D. Campbell, commanding officer, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, addresses local community business leaders at Camp Pendleton’s Red Beach training area during a VIP visit, Jan. 27. Campbell emphasized the importance of MEUs by discussing some of the accomplishments of recently deployed MEUs and the support the MEUs are capable of providing during a crisis. “We’re America’s away team,” he said. He also talked about the role of the Navy and Camp Pendleton’s part in offering a training environment for his unit. The 15th MEU is currently training for a deployment scheduled for this fall.
