Lieutenant Colonel Timothy E. Barrick LtCol Timothy E. Barrick

Lieutenant Colonel Barrick graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Political Science, International Studies, in May 1992. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. After attending The Basic School and Armor Officer Basic Course, he joined 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, where he served as a platoon commander and company executive officer. In 1996, he was transferred to the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA, where he served as a Series Officer and Company Executive Officer. He then attended the Amphibious Warfare School, Quantico, VA, and upon graduation was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor of Company C, 4th Tank Battalion in Boise, ID, where he served for 3 years until 2002. He was then assigned as the G-3 Plans and Exercises Officer for Marine Corps Bases Japan/Marine Forces Japan at Camp Butler, Okinawa. In March 2004, he deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan as an individual augment to Combined Joint Task Force 76. As the Contingency Plans Officer in the CJ35 Future Operations Section, he was the lead planner for the October 2004 presidential election and became the military officer-in-charge of the combined Election Security Operations Center in Kabul. His next assignment was as a student at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI. Upon graduation in 2006, he was transferred to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms, CA, to serve as the battalion executive officer. He then deployed as an individual augment to the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, in Baghdad, where he served as the J33 Current Operations Chief. Following that assignment, he returned to Twentynine Palms to begin the activation of the Marine Corps Tactics & Operations Group where he subsequently served as the Operations Officer for three years, supporting the establishment of an advanced Ground Combat Element training program focused on company through regimental level battle staff operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Barrick’s personal decorations and awards include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medals and the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He holds a Master’s Degree in Military Studies in Land Warfare from American Military University, graduating with honors in April 2001. And, he holds a Master’s Degree in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, graduating with highest distinction in June 2006. He also completed the U.S. Army Airborne School in 1989.

Lieutenant Colonel Barrick is married and they have two sons.
