The Family Readiness Officer is an integral part of the Command's official Family Readiness Program and is the primary communication link between the Commanding Officer and the families of our Marines and Sailors. The Family Readiness Officer will provide information, referral, and support to the Marine & Sailor's spouses and their families. The active involvement of a spouse or extended family member is still critical to the success of the program. The program ensures that families of military members are equipped with accurate information and resources necessary to make the best decisions for their family. Volunteers are required to complete a standardized training course and adhere to strict rules of confidentiality. The Family Readiness program supports all Marines and Sailors in the unit whether they are single or married.
The Family Readiness Officer will:
- notify, interact, and provide honest, straight-forward information for our families to the fullest extent that force protection and classification will allow.
- standardize family readiness support for both active duty, reserves and individual augments.
- establish communication with individual augment families and incorporate those families into family readiness information sharing and support programs
"Taking care of our own" begins with Family Readiness.
- Commandant's Safety Policy
- 35th Commandant's Planning Guidance
- I MEF Commanding General's Family Readiness Vision
- Families of deployed Marines face challenges at home
Family Members of Marines and Sailors
The point of contact for family members (spouses, children or parents) of Marines and Sailors is the the Family Readiness Officer. If the family member does not know who their Marine's Family Readiness Officer (FRO) is, they should ask their Marine who the unit Family Readiness Officer is. If the Marine/Sailor does not know or is currently deployed, please call the Camp Pendleton Directory Assistance at 760-725-4111 and ask for your Marine/Sailors unit FRO. You can ask them to transfer you to the unit locater for your Marine/Sailor if you are unsure which unit they belong to. If you know your Marine's unit, you can also locate their unit on the website to speak to a Unit representative.
This site is constantly being updated with new information. If you have suggestions on information that you need, please contact the I MEF Family Readiness Program Manager.
The Marine Corps remains "Always Faithful" and will continue to "take care of our own!"
