2010 NAVY MARINE CORPS COSC CONFERENCE
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This year the Marine Corps will be participating in a combined Navy/USMC Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) Conference, which will be held on 18-20 May 2010 at the Town & Country Resort, San Diego, CA.
The conference will bring together individuals and organizations from around the world to roll out the new combined USMC/Navy COSC doctrine, as well as new policies, research, data, programs, interventions, and best practices pertinent to COSC in both the Marine Corps and Navy. The conference is open to leaders, chaplains, medical and mental health personnel, Marine and Family Service Center counselors, family members and others with interest in COSC. Continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for medical and counseling personnel who attend.
Purpose:
The purpose of the conference is to bring together subject matter experts and stakeholders in the Marine Corps COSC process, and to present, examine, and become informed on COSC policies, programs, and practices specifically tailored to Marines and their families. This is a warfighting issue. Representation from command leadership is essential to improve Corps-wide efforts to maximize force preservation and readiness.
Audience:
The conference is designed to benefit Marines, leaders of Marines, mental health professionals, Family Readiness staff, chaplains, medical providers, policy makers, family members, veterans, and their advocates.

Area Commanders Mtg/Emergency Notification system
Ladies and Gentlemen,
During the MCB Camp Pendleton Area Commanders Meeting last Thurs it was recommended to look at using the FRO network to make sure everyone was aware of the opportunity to receive emergency alert messages thru the Base Reverse 911 system.
We use this system for emergencies like the flood that occurred two weeks ago to get information out about major road closures or areas of the Base that have been isolated or closed. It is also used to put out evacuation information for wildland fire incidents. This Reverse 911 does not replace the Mass Notification System that is on the Base but the Reverse 911 system provides a rapid means of getting emergency information out via text messages and phone calls.
Sign up here for Camp Pendleton Emergency Notifications, a free text messaging service. In the event of an emergency and severe weather conditions, a text message will be sent to the cell number that you specify and/or your email address. http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/camp_pendleton/wens.cfm
One can also link to this from the CamPen main web site on the lower left hand corner. http://www.cpp.usmc.mil/ MCB CamPen Web Site.
NOTE: This is a free service provided by MCB Camp Pendleton; however, normal text message fees from your carrier may apply. To receive text messages, your cell phone must have text messaging capabilities.
