What is the Family Readiness Assistant Network (FRA)? An information network that links the command with its families:
- Operates under the direction of the Commanding Officer (CO) and the Family Readiness Officer (FRO)
- Assists in maintaining a sense of community within the command
- Focuses on areas that will benefit families
- Provides a reliable source of information and referral
- Morale and Support Services
What does the FRA do?
- Typical responsibilities of the FRA include:
- Welcoming incoming families
- Providing information and referrals when needed
- Offering moral support during difficult times
- Other activities may include:
- Sponsor unit activities
- Assist with other activities as directed by the CO and the FRO
What is your role in the FRA?
The CO and the FRO interviews and appoints FRA personnel:- Family Readiness Officer (FRO) - an active duty member of the command who serves as the communication link between the FRA and the CO
- Family Readiness Assistant Advisor - an experienced senior spouse of anactive duty member of the command who volunteers to mentor and support the FRA
- Family Readiness Assistant - the spouse of an active duty member of the command who acts as a communication link from assigned families within the command to the Command Team.
An FRA must complete training: FRAs complete a standardized training course and serve in the FRA Network with other appointed and trained Family Readiness Assistants, see here for the MCCS Family Team Building Schedule
Each Family Service Center provides standardized FRA training that is open to all spouses of active duty personnel

- Resources available through the Marine Corps and local community
