Chaplain's Corner



  Lieutenant Bareng serves as the Battalion Chaplain for Battalion Land Team 2nd, 4th Marine Regiment.

  Ryan Bareng graduated from Biola University, La Mirada, California 25 May, 2002 with a B.A. in Biblical and Theological studies. He received an M.A. in Systematic Theology from Talbot School of Theology La Mirada, California in 2004 graduating with honors. He then immediately re-enrolled in Talbot to continue on the M.Div. tract in General Pastoral ministries in which graduated with honors on 26 May 2006.

  He received his commission on 2 January, 2006 through NRD Los Angeles, Chaplain Corps Direct Appointment program, as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was ordained by the Church of Hope, Laguna Woods on 3 September, 2006. He graduated Officer Indoctrination School on 22 June, 2007 and Naval Chaplain’s School, Newport, Rhode Island, 9 August, 2007. After graduating from Chaplain’s School he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment as the Battalion Chaplain.

  In January 2008, Lieutenant Junior Grade Bareng was deployed to Okinawa, Japan with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. In February 2008, he was promoted to Lieutenant. He returned to Camp Pendleton, California in July 2008 and continues to serve as Chaplain for Battalion Landing Team 2/4.
  Chaplain Bareng is married and has one child.
