A Message From 3/5 Family Readiness Officer

On behalf of Lt Col Jason Morris and the Marines and Sailors of the “Dark Horse Battalion”, welcome to the 3d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment Family Readiness Program. As the Family Readiness Officer, I am available to provide official two-way command communication, information and referral services as well as readiness and deployment support. I am committed to meeting the needs and challenges associated with military lifestyle, as well as provide you the families of this distinguished Battalion the tools you need both while your Marine or Sailor is home or deployed. There are many opportunities for you to be involved in this unit’s Family Readiness Program, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunities available to you.

What is the Unit Family Readiness Program?

Family readiness is defined as families who are prepared and equipped with the skills and tools to successfully meet the challenges of the military lifestyle. Family readiness directly affects the fundamental purpose of the Marine Corps to make Marines and win battles by building commitment and raising morale, thereby increasing unit readiness

Why is Family Readiness Important To You?

The Unit Family Readiness Program provides support to the individual Service Member and their family to successfully balance life, career and mission events. This support is provided through proactive outreach and intervention using Official Communication, Information and Referral and Readiness and deployment Support. This support is extend to the entire family unit and includes children, spouses, parents and other extended family members.
