3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Daryl G. CraneLtCol Crane was born in Emporia Kansas and is a 1992 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a BA in Psychology. In addition he holds a Master of Business Administration from National University. After completion of The Basic School and the Assault Amphibian Officers Course LtCol Crane was assigned to 3D Assault Amphibian Bn, 1st Marine Division where he served as Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer Company B, and Mobility/Counter-mobility Platoon Commander. In addition during this tour LtCol Crane served as the Aide-de-Camp to Assistant Division Commander. Following completion of his duties in 1st Marine Division LtCol Crane was assigned to MCRD San Diego where he served as Series Commander Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Bn; and Commanding Officer Headquarters Company, Headquarters and Service Bn. From June 1998 to December 1998 LtCol Crane attended the Armor Officers Advanced Course, United States Army Armor School. Upon completion of the Armor Officers Advanced Course LtCol Crane was assigned to 2nd Assault Amphibian Bn, 2nd Marine Division where he served as Commanding Officer Company D, and Assistant Operations Officer. In May 2002, LtCol Crane was assigned to Assault Amphibian School Bn where he served as the Battalion Executive Officer until August 2005 when he was transferred to 3D Assault Amphibian Bn, 1st Marine Division. Initially serving concurrently as the Battalion’s Operations and Logistics Officer LtCol Crane was soon reassigned as Team Leader National Police Transition Team and assigned to Multi-National Division Baghdad, Iraq. From November 2005 to November 2006 LtCol Crane and his transition team were assigned to train, mentor, advise, and provide coalition effects in support of combat operations to the 1st Bn, 8th Bde, 2nd Iraqi National Police Division. Upon return to 3D Assault Amphibian Bn LtCol Crane assumed duties as Battalion Executive Officer. In June 2007, LtCol Crane reported to the Program Manger, Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle, Woodbridge VA for duties as the Deputy Director of Test & Evaluation of the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle Program. LtCol Crane’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with ”V”, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon. |
