SgtMaj Rickey V. Jackson

Sergeant Major Rickey V. Jackson was born in Atlanta Georgia, August 21, 1966. Graduate from Lithonia High School in Lithonia Georgia June 12, 1984. He attended Jacksonville State University in Anniston Alabama for two years. Sergeant Major Jackson is married and has three children.

SgtMaj Jackson enlisted into the United State Marine Corps on October 10 1986. He reported to Marine Corps Recruit Training Parris Island on December 2, 1986. Graduate meritoriously to the rank of Private First Class March 2, 1987. Private First Class Jackson received orders to Infantry Training School (ITS) Camp Geiger North Carolina for military occupational specialist training as 0331 machine gunner. After Pfc Jackson completed ITS he received orders to 2nd Battalion 6th Marines Gulf Company from 1987 to 1990 was promoted to Lance Corporal while serving with 2/6. Lance Corporal Jackson received orders to 2nd Battalion 8th Marines Gulf Company from 1990 to 1991 and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal while serving with 2/8. CPL Jackson received permanent change of station orders to Marine Corps Security Force Company Norfolk Virginia from January 1992 to December 1993 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant during the tour of duty with MCSF CO Norfolk VA.

Sergeant Jackson was transferred to 3rd Battalion 1st Marines Camp Pendleton California from 1993 to 1996 deployed with 3/1 twice to include combat deployment to Somalia. Transferred to 8th Marine Corps Recruiting District, Recruiting Station Houston Texas from 1996 to 1999, promoted to Staff Sergeant while serving with RS Houston 8th Marine Corps District. PCS to the School of Infantry (SOI) east coast from 1999 to 2001. Transferred to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines from 2001 to 2004, deployed with 3/5 twice to include combat tour to Iraq in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. Was promoted Meritoriously to Gunnery Sergeant in 2002 and received a Meritorious Service Medal for meritorious service during combat. Transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island July of 2004, was assigned to Support Battalion as the S-3 Chief. Selected to First Sergeant January 2005 and transferred to Headquarter and Support Battalion Headquarters Company as the Headquarters Company 1st Sergeant. 1stSgt was transferred to 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion on July of 2007 as the Headquarters Battery First Sergeant. 1stSgt Jackson was selected to his current rank Sergeant Major on November 1, 2009. November 15, 2009 SgtMaj Jackson received orders to report to 2nd Battalion 4th Marines and join the unit in Kuwait as part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, as Battalion Landing Team 2/4.

Personal Awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, (2) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (4) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. (2) Combat Action Ribbons, (7) Good Conduct Medals, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Other ribbons include: Sea Service deployment (10), Presidential Unit Citation, South West Asia Medal (2), National Defense (2), Meritorious Unit Citation (6), Arm Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Navy Artic Service, Recruiter Ribbon and Joint Meritorious Unit Citation. SgtMaj Jackson has attained an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies (September 13, 2006) from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Sports Science from the American Military University. SgtMaj Jackson is also a Certified Circuit Training Instructor and Certified Physical Fitness Program designer.

Goals while in the Marine Corps: Obtain a Master Degree in Health and Sports Science.
