May has been a busy month for the battalion, we’ve welcomed home Alpha 2nd platoon from the MEU. We’ve had ongoing rifle ranges to training exer-cises involving Charlie company. As CEB moves closer to deployment, our Marines and Sailors will most certainly be charging hard.
Dear Friends and Family of Bravo Company, I wish you all could be here to see everything that your Marines are accomplishing. The photos do not say enough to the feats that the Marines have made in their relatively short time. Whether building a Company Observation Post to making a crossing across a wadi for the Afghans to cross without getting wet or stuck, your Marines continue to strive in the most austere environments. You will be happy to notice that mail inbound has been making to each and every Marine and always a healthy morale boost!
Another month in the books; one month closer to our return! I know these times are difficult and your loved ones are frantically busy doing their jobs. Rest assured their performance is directly tied to the support that is received from you all. Thank you again for the prayers, letters, notes, and remembrances from home! The Marines of Bravo Company continue to “shock and awe” myself as well as those who witness their efforts in their professionalism and proficiency of their job. We are making something out of nothing every day.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE SHER WALI, MARJAH, Afghanistan — It’s only morning and the Afghan sun is already beating down on the combat engineers who are putting up large tents at Forward Operating Base Sher Wali, Marjah, Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 6, 2010. The Marines from 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, attached to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, have been tasked to build the tents as Sher Wali improves and expands.
Your Marines have continued to impress and astound me in their ability to perform to the utmost ability that would be expected of any Marine. I want to take the first part of this message to thank each and everyone of you for support that you continue to give to your Marine.
It’s finally here!! The end has come and we will be making our way home soon. This last month
has been extremely busy in preparation for the arrival of our replacements and finishing up the

Hello to the Route Clearance Home Front. I hope your summer wrapped up well. Things continue to go well for your Marines as they work across southern Afghanistan. They continue to work long days and are constantly on the road but they meet their mission, like few others can, in keeping the roads safe. We also grew our family on this side of the world with the ABV Addition and welcome any of you out there reading this for the first time. We look forward to seeing all of your faces and getting some well deserved rest and we'll keep our noses to the grind stone as we get a days closer.

Hello again. I hope all is going well at home and it’s great to hear of the recent additions to the greater titan family.
Things here are going well and the platoons continue to be some of the hardest working marines around and only the mail truck gets a warmer welcome from other units.
We would like to thank everyone for the support from home and particularly those who helped with remembering sgt heede, our fallen warrior.
We will keep our noses to the grind stone and look forward to seeing you all.

As H&S Company climbed over the hump “HALFWAY POINT” of the deployment, they have not changed their focus on the deployment. With Marines still operating in combat operations, our job at hand remains in direct support of those units.
From the Logistics, Supplies, to Tracking Personnel and Units across the battle space the Marines are staying on top of their game. Though we “the company” are heavily engaged in operations, we have started the process of planning for the return trip.
Knowing this, the Marines have kept their spirits high. Semper Fi!

Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan
Delta Company has had “10” Marines re-enlist thus far on deployment. About half the company has been on multiple deployments to Iraq and a handful are on their second trip to Afghanistan.
These are dangerous times to serve our country but it is fair to say as times get hard, “1st CEB Marines get Harder”. Even though bonus money is not what it has been in recent years Marines are still choosing to stay.
Whether it is their first re-enlistment like Cpl Gentry or their 6th like 1stSgt Smythe they all want to remain one of the “Few and the Proud”.

Family and friends of Delta Company,
Another month has come and gone; bringing us all that much closer to reuniting with our loved ones.
This month was very busy, as you know if you have watched the news that is filled with reports from southern Afghanistan.
Our Marines may not have been the ones on camera or talking to the reporter, but rest assured they played an integral part in the initial stabilization of the region.
As a company we have not stopped operating for the past month and the Marines have performed superbly.

Family and Friends of Headquarters and Service Company
Greetings from Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Much has happened over here in the time it has been since your Marine or Sailor departed from Camp Pendleton in April and May.
Our mission as Headquarters and Service Company is to provide command and control functions to our battalion to support their mission of leading the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device efforts for the entire 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade.
I say with confidence that we are completing that mission on a daily basis.

Family and friends of Delta Company,
Greetings from southern Afghanistan. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself.
My name is Captain Todd Peterson and I am the Commanding Officer for Delta Company in 1st CEB.
It is my honor to have worked with and trained your Marines and now lead them in a very difficult but important mission.
Each Marine here was hand-picked from a 200 man company because of his past experience or because he has displayed exceptional skill at his job combined with a warrior spirit that cannot be underestimated.
I understand that this may be a difficult deployment for some and maybe just another typical year for others already hardened by life in the Corps.
Either way I thank you for your support and understanding.

"The mission, Marines, is to secure a stretch of road where both we and the Brits have taken IED casualties," said First Lieutenant Stephen Strieby, 1st Platoon commander at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, just prior to jumping off on an Oct. 5 route reconnaissance mission. "We'll be sweeping an area 10 to 12 klicks [kilometers] south, out by the little village. We'll be linking up with the British unit who'll provide overwatch, and they'll have snipers out to assist if necessary."

Garmsir District, Helmand Province
KOSHTAY, Garmsir District, Helmand Province, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan – The mission for Marines here is to seize ground controlled by Taliban insurgents, hold that ground and build on it. Building in this case means fortifying their exposed position on the very front lines of this conflict. However, Marine infantrymen are not known for their carpentry and construction skills. That responsibility falls on the engineers.
